Prison Ministry Prayer Requests for this week – 10/6/25

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Imagine you’re the pastor or one of the support people at church – Sunday rolls around, and the weekly worship service is about to start, you look in the sanctuary and there’s only one person sitting there.  What do you do?  Everything is all ready to go.  Do you continue as you would on a regular Sunday?

That was our experience last night in the prison.  Our team of 6 volunteers was in place for the 7:00pm service, and one inmate showed up.  We suspect the others may have been watching the Phillies in their playoff game. We joked about that, then pressed on with our weekly worship service as normal.  It reminded us of the lost sheep passage in Matthew and Luke.

“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?  And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’  I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” (Luke 15.4-7)

We want to follows God’s heart, where even one lost sheep is important. We still had a great time of worship, prayer, testimony, and hearing a message from God’s Word.  I’m sure Deron wasn’t thrilled to be the object of so much attention, but he took it in stride. What I learned from this is every person we come across is important to God.

In fact, on the way to the prison, I came upon a motorist who had broken down. One of our prison volunteers had already stopped to help by letting him make a call on his cell phone.  A few minutes of inconvenience, but another opportunity to show God’s love.  When we live our testimony, there will be people that notice. That’s why 1 Peter 3.15 reminds us to always be ready.

Thank you for valuing each of these inmates as we do, and supporting them with your prayers each week.  We may never know the full impact our prayers have on each individual, but know that each prayer most certainly helps, because we lift our prayers to a Good, Good Father who loves us more than we can fathom.  May He bless your week in new ways.

And don’t forget about our benefit dinner on Friday, Oct 24, at 6pm. Tickets still available (for now).

Grace and Peace,

Rick
