The Opera Ain’t Over ’til the Fat Lady Sings

The title is a quip often heard when one wants to deliver the message that there is still more to come.  For us in prison ministry, the fat lady never sings.  We will rarely see the end result of our efforts to share the light of the gospel in the darkness of Chester County Prison, nor should we expect to.  We are not in charge of the results.  That is God’s domain.  We are only in charge of effort.  Over the last 21 years, I have bumped into men on the “outside” who attended our Monday night ministry while they were inmates at the prison and a few of them have told me how much the ministry meant to them at such a low point in their lives.  That’s good to hear, but the blessing for us comes from the belief that we are somehow being used in God’s plan of salvation.
